Cure for HIV coming? (And other news articles can go here as well)

That's been in the works for a while. Sad HIV got politicized as being a "gay disease" so that many refused to do anything about it because that might help someone else, but piss and moaning aside, it's nice to see some progress from time to time.
Somewhat related, a friend of mine was part of the group used to test the HEP-C cure. He'd gotten hep through a transfusion and labored with it for years, was nice to know he'd gotten to where it wasn't under control, no remission, but actually cured.
I wish we had more support for science and medicine to try and solve more of the ails of the world; imagine what we could accomplish.

I recall reading the scientists around that case stating that, at least for the time being, stem cell transplants are not likely to be practical for most HIV patients. However it's very promising for some of those who already need transplants for other purposes such as blood cancers. Regardless I'm really happy to see they're finding breakthroughs, even if they require lots more research.
