Could someone please explain the appeal of something being taboo to me?

This is an honest question I have had for a while now.

I see a lot of people on here who say they are zoo, or rather, are into having sex with animals, because it is something considered taboo in society.
They do not have sex with animals because they find animals attractive and desirable in and of themselves, like me and a lot of other zoos, but rather because having sex with animals is seen as 'wrong', and they want to be rebellious or something. This also has the odd implication of, if having sex with animals were not seen as taboo, then they would not be doing it, unlike someone who is actually attracted to animals.

It's like they are turned on by doing something shameful or undignified. I am not trying to be insulting, I am sorry if that is how this is coming off, I am just honestly at a loss, and would like somebody to explain to me how something being viewed as disgusting or frowned upon by society is arousing to some people.

An issue of slight discomfort for me is also the fact that, when saying you want to have sex with animals because it is 'nasty' or 'degrading', you are implicitly dealing a massive insult to all animals, basically calling them filthy or ignoble creatures, and are dealing yet another insult towards people who have a real relationship with animals, by implying that they too are partaking in some kind of 'depravity', and that their heartfelt relationship is a mere 'kink'.

Again, I do not mean to come off as confrontational, I just wanted to get some of these points cleared up in my mind. I am perfectly aware that not everybody who practices fetish-based sex with animals is abusive, or does not take good care of their animals, or treats them like sex toys; that is not the issue here.
Just understand that I, and some other people, who generally like to keep our self-esteem intact, and who view animals with enough respect (not saying you do not respect animals) to not see relationships with them as degrading to humans, are a little confused.

Best regards, and thanks in advance for the replies.

Usually it is something in human nature to want what you 'can't' have, and because of this anything rejected by societal norms or any deviations from that collective 'this is okay' those who see beastiality as a taboo thing is similar to wanting what society has rejected as a subject in which the debate for such things are often seen as dangerous.

People love danger and therefore like the idea of something more than the actual practice of said idea. Similar to masturbatory fantasy subject material like rape, cuckolding, ugly bastards, etc. Because society sees these things as wrong and even dangerous human nature dictates we want to indulge in things that can't be.

Many have perceptions of how things are, some see beastiality as beautiful and romantic, others see it as a form of sexual pleasure, some enjoy it because it was there at the time. Some people however like it because others don't.

So a good analogy for people having sex with animals because it is taboo may be people bootlegging liquor and placing a higher value on alcohol in underground speakeasies during Prohibition?
Or, say, the thrill that people get from riding a fast rollercoaster is comparable to the thrill of doing something that could land you in a deep spot of trouble if you were caught?

There is a whole bunch of reasons why people don't like beastiality and as you put it, 'an insult to people that people have good relationships with their animals.'

Usually to answer that is because people are taught that something is wrong and shameful, constant repetition of that through generations and social engineering by religion to force ideals of 'wrongness' into something that happens in people naturally. Like how many places teach that sexual expression is wrong.

But yes, it is similar to the speakeasies of the 20s, or a rollercoaster the thrill of doing something that others would see as shameful, humiliating, or just gross is thrilling.

Humans are really fucking weird about shame and guilt when it comes to stuff like this. But I guess it goes back to how pain and pleasure are on the same nervous system the only difference is interpretation. People like feeling shame for something that I think at least shouldn't be shameful.

I certainly have felt shame about what I like here. What I wanna do with a mare, the fear of people finding out and coming here for the comfort and peace of mind that I'm not alone. And before I came here I thought of this as 'taboo' and 'unthinkable' but eventually I had to come to terms that I would be a opportunistic zoo.

Why do you care?
Is there something wrong with me simply asking a question?
I said I was merely curious, since I saw something I could not understand.

People today act like the only things you are allowed to care about are the things that directly affect you. That sounds like a very boring life indeed, devoid of any variety or discovery.

Nope, no problem at all. I’m relatively new here, and I have observed a good number of people ask about “when will zoos be accepted?”, “why do we like what we like?” , that sort of thing. There are as many answers as there are people. That’s why I asked why you care. It’s like you’re asking, “how high is up?” I hope you find your answers.
I'm sorry if my reply came off as a little rude, I reread it and saw it may have been that way.
Even if people have different answers, I would at least like to hear some of them, to get a feel for the general idea.
The reason I cared was the same reason I care about spending half an hour clicking random Wikipedia links; simple curiosity.

A few more or less related guesses: the thrill of taking a risk, a test of courage, the broadening of the mind a new experience usually brings, the sense of freedom when you go actively beyond boundaries, the idea of being special for doing something rare, a crazy story you can share with a select few, a connection to your own animal nature which is often hid under the carpet in society.

But also the feeling of deserving punishment, the chance to prove obedience to someone else's commands, the opportunity to rebel against other people's high expectations and the pressure that it creates.

Rapist, Murderers, serial criminals, this same question could be asked on such a broad sense of human behavior. People do things that are seen as odd or wrong, because of the thrill. Either from potentially being caught, doing something against the grain, or otherwise.

I share this discomfort tbh

At the end of the day, to me, what it really comes down to, is care for the partner. Are their needs met? Are they loved, at least as a pet? Are they treated well in all aspects? How people justify it in their brain, is no more than thoughts. It may make us uncomfortable, but it's only their brain. I draw the line at care for the partner, if they are well cared for, treated right, and not abused against their will, how someone chooses to justify it to themselves, is of no personal concern, but I do find it odd that they are so vocal about it.

I can't speak for anyone other than myself, for me it started in my teenage years, I spent a lot of time around horses growing up and I found watching them matting to be a huge turn on for me. Once I was in a place that allowed me to attempt mating with a mare, I tried it and I fell in love with it. I have always liked/loved animals more then I do people, so I never felt it was "taboo". It felt more of, something that a majority of society did not understand. I learned at a young age that no one has the right to judge anyone else because of the things that they find attractive or exciting. With this in mind I have always been respectful to anyone else's interest, no matter whether its, zoo/beast, BDSM, cuckold, gay, straight, etc., as long as your not hurting anyone or any animals, then who am I to say that's its wrong? So, back to the point, Its never been about a "taboo", as its just something that I found I enjoy. kind of a long answer to the question.
