Introduction
The female dog's body is a beautiful work of art, a wonderful art. Treat she accordingly, be gentle and love nature's greatest wonder. The lemon-shaped heaven is placed in a light fur coat in contrast with the dark skin color. With the dark hair on the inner thighs giving it attention, the sight is also magical. Her left-right movement while walking is so hypnotic.
The guide introduces the genitals of the female dog, the classic sexual act, foreplay/pampering with the mouth and fingers, covers heat cycles and diseases and more. The guide helps you get to know female dogs and gives you initial knowledge for starting sex. Of course, the end result of sex cannot be guaranteed, since sex requires two consents, the consent of both the human and the dog.
Female dog anatomy
The female dog body is a work of art. The lovely triangular folds, fleshy skin surface covered with fur... What is located where?
The clit is located between the vaginal opening and the clitoral fossa, these are your landmarks. You can feel them and see them.
The dog vagina can be entered first at a 45 degree angle, and then you straighten out a bit and you can enter her vaginal canal. Do not mistake the clitoral fossa for the vaginal canal.
From top to bottom your dog will have:
Vaginal/vestibule opening
Clitoris
Clitoral fossa
The clitoral fossa is a dead end. Its may confuse people. The entrance to the vagina/vestibule is located higher than the opening of the vulva would indicate. You have to move slightly upwards, towards the spine and from there inwards. The vulva is flexible and rises when is penetrated.
Penetrating through the vulva, we find ourselves in a wider, lax vestibule. Next comes the "wall", which is tight in the case of virgin dogs, slightly wider in the case of zoo-dogs, and expands even more for foreplay. This is a strong, muscular O-ring, its job is to hold the male dog's knot and create a pulsating pleasant stimulation, it closes the possibility of flow so that all sperm can move towards the uterus. This is also where the vagina begins, which is long and deep. The entire vagina is a muscular area capable of pulsating, squeezing movements, which gives the tight, unique and wonderful feeling that cannot be compared to anything else.
First attempts
If your girl has never had sex before, be gentle. Use a lot of lube and play with her nipples and vulva. Go farther slowly and stimulate her clit. Make circles around her tits clockwise and then counterclockwise. Fondle her as much as you can to loosen her up as much as possible this way and tease her vaginal opening with your finger and or tongue. Do not use objects to “widen” her. Using a well lubricated index finger push into her opening. If she has a "hymen" or "wall" it will feel like you are pushing against a wall with a spot in the middle. If you are not sure, make sure. You can use your finger to press into the hole. It will feel like you have one of those rubber bands on your finger.
Lube up your finger really well and press your finger into the hole and finger the little hole until you can get the first knuckle into it without much resistance. Again, if you encounter any pain or discomfort action from her stop immediately.
If she is comfortable press into her slowly stimulating her clit and doing other nice things as foreplay. Give her breaks between fingerings and continue to larger fingers until you can get a good insert size.
Penis penetration in the vagina will probably not be possible the first time. The dog has to discover the experience, he has to figure out what we want, since he has never seen or felt anything like it before. This requires time and several occasions. The more he likes it, the easier it will be for the hole in the "wall" to expand to 2-3 finger widths for the penis to enter. Eventually, you won't even need your fingers, stroking the belly can also result in full expansion.
Hands should always be clean, washed with soap, nails should be cut short and finely filed. A sharp nail can cause pain and bleeding in the vagina, and dirty hands can cause infections.
Lube is important especially in the initial period. Later, this is not absolutely necessary, it depends on the precum ability of the penis.
Always use a water-based product that is fragrance and dye-free. Oil-based products are not suitable.
The use of saliva is generally not recommended because of the bacteria in the mouth. Do not use saliva during heat. It is permissible outside of heat, as long as the mouth is well-groomed and healthy.
Non penetrate sex/foreplay
Sex isn't always about penetration on vagina. There are still so many opportunities and adventures, discover them.
Two classic ways are mouth and fingers. There are dogs that really like it, and some that don't like it. Watch for the signs.
We can stimulate the clitoris with the tip of the tongue, gently, sometimes firmly. We can intervene from the right and the left. We can move to the place of the clit fossa, back to the clitoris, up to the vestibule. We can move our tongue in it, we can also come out on the outside of the vulva. You will notice that different parts of the pussy have different tastes. We can use our lips, give it a kiss, breathe in with our nose (don't blow), the flow of cold air can also have a pleasant sensation around the vulva.
In the meantime, we can caress the abdomen, the inner half of the thighs, the area of the lower 4 tits and the area around the vulva with our hands.
If you caressed the area around the anus, do not reach into the vagina with that hand.
The clitoris should be stimulated gently with a finger, many dogs do not like strong direct rubbing on the clitoris.
An interesting fact, dogs usually have 8 or 10 tits, but there may be an odd number of 7, usually the ones next the front legs do not grow.
Classic sexual act
From the anatomy section, you can roughly guess what it feels like to make love to a dog. Wonderful.
The vulva and vestibule embrace you softly and warmly, the wall/the O-ring gives strong stimulation and squeeze to the penis, and finally, reaching the vagina, we arrive at another wider section. It can also be compared to an sandglass. The entire vagina not only starts its way upwards at 45 degrees, but also has a slight curve, which is why it stimulates the penis in areas that could never be felt before. Meanwhile, she sometimes moves and squeezes.
The warmth is beautiful, the dog's body temperature is 1.5 C degrees higher, this can also be felt with the penis. During ejaculation, the vagina and the O-ring are usually squeezed together to make the "knot". This can cause a pleasant and prolonged orgasm.
Real knotting is not possible, because the human penis does not have an area that the muscular ring can knot, but the strong muscle, the effect of friction, and the edge of the "torch" can slightly get caught, creating a feeling of knotting. It is worth waiting for the end, unless you have an extreme "zoomie" dog, in which case jumping off the tightly held penis may cause a little-little-bit discomfort.
Do not have sex for 2 hours after eating, because lying on she's back and rhythmic movement can cause the stomach to overturn, gastric torsion (GDV, bloat), this is a life-threatening condition.
Anal sex
99% of dogs don't like anal sex. It may happen that you belong to that 1%... (no), but in any case it should be mentioned for security reasons.
If this is the case never ever insert the penis (finger etc.) into the vagina after it has been in the anus. This can cause infections to include bladder and vaginal infections.
The "experience" of anal penetration is much simpler than vaginal penetration. After passing through the sphincter, you are greeted by a wide and endlessly deep rectum and colon. It's like sticking your penis into outer space. The sphincter can sometimes make a pulsating movement. In the end, everything will be dirty and smelly. It is always advisable to wait a while after pooping before starting any activity. The sperm usually flows out and leaves a brown discharge mark on the dog's fur.
Never use a dildo for anal activity, the colon is not designed for entrance, an object/dildo has no senses, you won't notice if it damages the intestinal wall.
Remember that canines have anal glands. The insertion of the penis or finger may also cause the release of the glands. Stimulating the anus in any way can eventually cause the release of the anal glands.
The other thing is you want to be careful to not damage the glands. Most of the mess from anal intercourse with dogs is the anal glands which are quite potent smelling (fishy, it smells like sun-dead fish). Make sure before you give your lover a wanted anal session you sniff her out and make sure she smells "healthy". If there is an unusual scent, or an infection scent take her to the vet.
The secretion of the anal gland is tea-colored and flows like water in normal cases. In the medium case, it is cola-colored and a little thicker. This is already a problem.
In severe cases, it has a black and cream texture, in which case a veterinarian is definitely needed. In the most serious case, it is a bloody and inflamed discharge, which requires immediate care.
Heat
The dog's estrus cycles repeat every 6 months. Due to individual circumstances, this can vary by 1-1 month in both directions, so roughly 6 months. In rare cases, it can occur every 12 months, as with wolves. Also in rare cases, 3 heats per year can occur, if the heat takes place normally and the dates are approximately equally distributed (4-5 months), it can be considered "normal". This can occur especially in small and mini dog breeds.
The first heat occurs at the age of 6-18 months (usually 9-14 months), depending on size and breed and time of birth. In some cases, it may take up to 20-24 months of age. Or perhaps the first heat was not recognized, or it was short or silent.
The heat lasts about 21 days, a few days may vary.
The approach of heat can be recognized by a change in the dog's behavior, she urinates and marks more, examines the smell of other dogs' pee for a longer time, licks the vulva more. If there are other dogs around, they will also lick her vulva and may start to hump. After a few days, the vulva becomes swollen and begins to bleed. Blood can also be seen on the vulva and dripping onto the floor. Sometimes the dog often cleans and licks up the drops, so it is harder to notice.
The first day is the first drop of blood, we count from here. The color of the blood is a darker red. Usually, she does not allow sexual activity in this case, but the opposite can also happen. Zoophilia is not classic mating with own species, so the dog's attitude towards human sex can also vary.
7-14. day, the sexual interest gradually increases, when the vulva or the thighs and tail are touched, she places her hind legs in a stable position, hold up her body, puts her tail to the side out of the way and raises the vulva to make penetration easier. This is a characteristic posture. In this case, the sexual desire is the strongest. The color of the blood becomes lighter and thinner.
This state is 17-18. lasts for a day, then the sexual desire starts to decrease, the characteristic posture also ceases, the bleeding stops. The 21st day is the end of the heat, but a few more days may be necessary.
Abnormal heat?
"Partial heat": In young dogs, during the ~first/second heat, the heat may be interrupted. This is normal at this age, she will start again within a few months. If this occurs in an adult dog and occurs several times in a row, it is worth consulting a vet.
"Silent heat": Is more common in youth and rare in adulthood. This is also normal. In this case, there is no blood and no swelling of the vulva, but the cycle continues in the same way and the dog is fertile. It is difficult to recognize, but signs of normal heat is help. More peeing, marking, more licking of the vulva, changes in behavior and other dogs' interest in the vulva.
"White discharge": After a few days of end of heat, a white, possibly slightly yellowish, odorless, stretchy, glue-like secretion may be discharged. It typically stretches up to 5-10 cm long and clings to the fur on the hind legs. The dog's appetite is good, her mood and playfulness are fine. In this case, it is a normal discharge. It does not occur in all dogs.
Age of first sex
The general rule is the second heat and the age of 1.5 years.
Since this time varies for each dog, it must be detailed.
You definitely have to wait for the second heat. Dog breeders also only breed during the second heat at the earliest.
For most dogs, the second heat occurs at the age of 1.5 years. This however varies individually. There are dogs that go into heat at 6 months, then the second heat at 1 year, and the third heat at 1.5 years. Since the dog is still young at the age of 1 year, it is advisable to wait for the third heat or the time between the second and third heat when she reaches the age of 1.5 years. In such a case, dog breeders also wait until the 3rd heat.
In cases where the dog starts its first heat at the age of 1.5-2 years, it is advisable to wait for the second heat, even if it is after the age of 2 years.
The need for heat varies from dog to dog, there are dogs that prefer the first sex ("loss of virginity") during the heat, while others prefer it out of the heat as well.
A properly developed vagina and a mentally mature dog are definitely necessary for sex to be mutual pleasure and not only "fuck". That's why these dates exist.
Sex in old age:
Not in all cases, but it can happen in old dogs that the vagina narrows and "the wall/O ring" tightens again. Based on the description of the first steps, try and be very gentle and use a lot of foreplay. If the dog feels uncomfortable, do not force it. Choose another pampering method or leave it alone.
The heat in dogs does not stop in old age, the half-year cycle lasts until the end of their lives. Very old dogs may stop heat, basically because the ovaries stop working.
Minimal dog size
As a general rule, for an average (~14cm/5.5in) penis, a minimum size dog of ~30Kg/65lbs is recommended. If possible, choose from breeds with wide hips and a rounder body.
Of course, these numbers are difficult to define, they strongly depend on the unique physical characteristics of the dog and whether she is a virgin or has given birth to puppies.
There are examples when it was possible to have sex with a smaller dog, but this is not "guaranteed".
Reproductive diseases
Pyometra
Pyometra is a bacterial inflammation of the uterus with purulent discharge. It has a dangerous and deadly outcome, the toxin is easily, quickly and continuously absorbed from the large amount of secretions, in the final stage (if dogs gets there stage) it can rupture due to the weakening of the uterine wall and the secretion fills the abdominal cavity.
The causes are disruption of the internal bacterial biorhythm of the uterus/body, this typically occurs at an older age and at the end of heat or 2 months after heat. The combined effect of an old dog, aging-related changes in the uterine wall, a weakened immune system and a hormone bomb is the most common cause. It is difficult to cite figures due to the large number of influencing factors, every 4-5 dogs may be affected, but it is also possible 10-20 if someone has a dog of a breed that is less prone to it.
Pyometra can also occur in young animals, even on the first heat, but this is rare. Typically an internal infection, but bacteria can also enter externally, this is the rare case.
It has two versions, open and closed. Closed is more common because it is an internal infection. In this case, discharge and odor do not appear, it is more difficult to recognize. Open, a yellowish, brownish, bloody, easily liquid exudate is discharged, which typically drips onto the floor and you will already feel the foul smell in the room. The dog does not eat, lies down a lot, has stomach cramps, or drinks a lot of water. When closed, the only telltale signs are a change in the dog's mood and loss of appetite.
If the dog is 1-2 weeks after the heat or 2 months after the heat and a sudden mood change or loss of appetite occurs, it must be taken to a doctor and it can be diagnosed with an ultrasonography examination in 5 minutes. If it is an older animal (over 6-8 years old), it is especially important. The disease is fast, the dog's condition deteriorates significantly within a few days.
In a young dog, drug treatment (antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, hormones, immune boosters) can most likely be cured and does not require surgery. The chance of recurrence is higher.
In older animals, drug treatment is rarely successful and there is a high chance that surgery (neutering) will be required.
Neutering surgery is currently the only solution for its effective prevention, which unfortunately comes with a strong restriction of sexual contact, which is why not many owners choose it. For this reason, it is a worrisome disease, we must pay attention to the symptoms of the disease and react quickly if we suspect it. Of course, the health and life of the dog is more important than the sexual relationship, if the operation is absolutely necessary, we allow to the veterinarian.
Breast cancer
It is a rarer disease than pyometra, but it is basically problem. It occurs almost only in old dogs, it starts with a hard, bean-like tumor that can be felt in the glands under the nipples, and then grows to the size of a tennis ball without treatment. In the case of cancer, it spreads to the internal organs and is definitely fatal.
If the tumor is recognized in time, it can be cured by surgery. If more than one breast is affected or if it develops again in another breast within a short period of time, the doctor will advise sterilization, because sterilization can slow down further tumor formation.
It can be prevented by neutering at a young age, so it is also a less popular solution. Neutering a middle-aged dog no longer significantly reduces the chance of development, it only slows it down.
Pseudo/false pregnancy
It appears two months after heat, when the dog would theoretically calving. Of course, mating did not occur, but the body and hormones work because it is part of the estrous cycle. It does not cause any problems for most dogs. In some dogs, it can cause listlessness for a few days or a week, possibly with a reduced appetite for a few days. This can easily be confused with pyometra, because the initial symptoms are similar.
In more severe cases, the dog's breasts swell, become warm and milk flows from them, the dog builds a nest and prepares for calving, which does not happen. In the most severe cases, the cervix can also open, in which case infections can enter, even causing pyometra, but this is rare.
In severe cases, it is treated with hormonal drugs, in milder cases it is usually sufficient to take away food, toys, bed ("nest") during the day, and more exercise and walking. Let's see the doctor, of course.
If it often occurs at an older age, it can also cause pyometra, if the breasts swell many occasion and produce milk (which the puppy does not empty), it increases the development of mammary tumors.
Sterilization is also the solution to prevent it and is still an unpopular procedure. Due to its easier handling, hormone drugs and rarer appearance, the treatment is sufficient and does not require sterilization (except in severe and frequent cases).
Urinary tract and vaginal infection (UTI)
The dog urinates more often outside of heat, or when urinating, it suddenly jumps up and runs away, or the urine only passes in drops and not continuously. The urine may be bloody or dark in color. It can also have a stronger, pungent smell. It is easily cured with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. It may be worth giving the dog a "large cranberry/american cranberry/bearberry" (Vaccinium macrocarpon) preparation, a child's dose, for one week. Possibly a combined preparation containing "European goldenrod/woundwort" (Solidago virgaurea) in addition. Let's ask the doctor about it.
Vaginal discharge may occur more often due to sexual intercourse. The typical and "normal" secretion produced by the vagina for cleaning is definitely odorless, yellowish in color and can be squeezed like jelly/jam. It disappears on its own in 1-2 days, the amount is similar to the smegma of male dogs.
If the discharge is more, more visible, and has an unpleasant smell or flows easily along the fur in larger quantities, it is a more serious vaginal infection and requires a veterinarian. It is usually treated with antibiotics.
We can reduce the chances of this happening if we have sex after bathing, with clean hands, mouth and penis, and after sex we let the dog out in the yard or take it for a walk (or short walk), so that the vagina and urethral opening can be cleaned naturally more easily with urination and movement.
Sexually transmitted disease (STD)
Fortunately, dogs do not spread many diseases. Most pathogens cannot survive in the dog's vagina, they can only be infected by frequent partner changes (within a few hours, several people have sex with the dog, like as a salivary doorknob). After a week's break, we have a pathogen-free dog.
Brucellosis is a known disease that persists in dogs for a long time through sexual contact (but also with saliva) and can be transmitted to humans.
Polyps
Ovarian/uterus polyp:
It occurs in many older dogs, a small ball at the end of a thin, elongated stem, they can appear in several places. In most cases, they are harmless, but sometimes they can show cancerous development. The harmless lumps may press on the ovary, disrupting or stopping heat.
Vaginal muscle polyp:
It occurs in older dogs, and is less common than ovarian counterparts. In most cases, these are also benign swellings, sometimes they can develop into cancer. Characteristic grape-like movable berries appear in the pod. You can even feel it with your finger or penis. Be careful with sex in this case, if she is uncomfortable, leave her alone.
In the worst case, the bump is visible through the opening of the vulva, in which case infections and bacteria from the outside world can be a problem.
It may happen that the bump presses on the opening of the urethra and makes it difficult to pee, in this case you should visit the vet.
We can briefly mention the acne/pimple-like bumps that appear on the vulva. They can occur at any age and disappear on their own after a few weeks. If it keeps growing, show it to the vet.
In old dogs, especially with light skin, dark spots (liver spots) may occur on the vulva, this is normal.
Vaginal/uterus prolapse
Occurs rare, typically in dogs that have given calving. The vagina slides down and, depending on the severity, is exposed through the vulva. Like a sock being turned inside out. It is treated with surgery and the vagina is sewn into place. Chances of sexual penetration may decrease. There is not enough zoo experience in this regard because it rarely occurs.
Neutered/spayed dog
(personal opinion) If you want to have a full penetration sexual relationship with your dog, do not have it neutered or buy a neutered dog. Let's strive for intact dogs.
Sterilization in most cases reduces or eliminates sexual contact, physically/mentally.
Of course, it may happen that our intact dog needs to be neutered due to an illness, or the dog we take in, rescue, or love has been neutered before/previous owner, solutions are possible for this case as well.
Use the practices of the foreplay section, try the practices of the first time as well.
There is no guarantee that the dog will like sex, there is no guarantee that the previously adequate vagina will expand again. A common method is penetration into the vulva and vestibule, which can accommodate a third of the penis, thus partially penetrating sexual intercourse can be established, but it is often not possible to enter the vagina. Be careful and gentle with dog.
If she doesn't want it or uncomfortable for her, stop and try other methods or leave her alone and stroke her belly.
After the sterilization surgery, you have to wait one month before trying to have sex for the first time.
Sterilization surgical procedures
Complete: The uterus and ovaries and cervix are also removed. This is always used in the case of pyometra. Some doctors also use this for healthy dogs. Major surgery, with a slower healing, in return it protects against all diseases (pyo, cancer, pseudo, etc.). The heat disappears completely, puppies cannot be born. It strongly limits sexual life.
Ovary removal: It is typically used in young and healthy dogs in Europe. Smaller surgery, faster healing, good protection against diseases, minimal chance of developing pyometra, but this is rare. The heat disappears completely, puppies cannot be born.
If performed at a young age, it strongly limits sexual intercourse, if applied after 2-3 heats, it limits or remains unchanged by 50/50%.
Uterus removal / OSS (Ovary Sparing Spay): A surgery existing in the USA, a reverse procedure, as in the previous case, the uterus (+cervix, but variable) is removed and the ovaries remain. The heat will continue, puppies cannot be born. Smaller surgery, faster healing.
It protects against pyometra, but not against tumors. The end result of the procedure also has a 50/50% chance of a decrease in sexual activity, as in the previous case.
Vasectomy: Fallopian tubes are cut, no organs are removed. The only procedure where the sexual lifestyle remains 100% unchanged. There will be a heat cycle, but no puppies will be born. It does not protect against any disease, which is why few veterinarians support the procedure. The smallest operation and fastest healing. If we live in a country where neutering is mandatory, this procedure is the answer, if possible. If it is not possible, then after 2-3 heats the ovary removal surgery.
Chemical/hormonal: It is usually done by administering the hormone proligestone. Suitable as a temporary method. Its lifelong use increases the development of pyometra and tumors. It does not protect against any disease, heat ceases, no cubs are born. It has a temporary effect, the injections must be repeated.
