Can someone explain furries to me?

So what's the deal with furries? I never really understood it like some are into zoo sex and some aren't but they're all into the animals thing? Doesn't really make sense to me.

Some furries just like the anthropomorphous look. Some feel like they themselves identify as an anthro animal. Some think the look and the thought behind it is cute and fun. Some are extremely against beastiality because they believe it's either gross or they don't think animals can consent. Some love fucking their dogs while they are dressed in their mursuit.
I feel like stuff like Lola Bunny and Krystal from Star Fox and pretty much any sexualized characters from games or tv shows involving human-like animals gets a lot of people into the whole yiff and furry club.
I love yiff porn and I think that some furry suits are really cute and fun. I don't think I'd wear a suit myself as I'm not really interested, but I can see the appeal of becoming something cutsie or cool looking.
 
They're like the in-between of furries. A common favorite monster girl is cat girls(girls with cat ears, cat tail, and some cat mannerisms). But it can also include other races like orcs, kobolds, centaurs.

In my experience, there are different camps of furries. For some, furry play is a stand-in for real life zoo experiences they can't or choose not to have. For some, it's a stand-in for real life experiences with other humans (sexual or otherwise). For some, the idea of zoophilia is offensive and they resent the seemingly obvious connection between furry and zoophilia. For some it's just a fun lifestyle for whatever reason. Not all furries are the same. You might as well ask someone to explain people who like reality TV or kale smoothies. Different strokes for different folks.
