Browsing Without VPN

Hey all! For most of my life I’ve been browsing on these sorts of websites on mobile without a VPN… obviously now I understand the importance, but I guess I’m wondering if I should be worried about having been compromised from my past habits? For clarification, I’ve never posted explicit materials and am, for the most part, just a lurker on these sites. Any insight/advice would be much appreciated!

Look at the laws in your country and see what is illegal and what is not when it comes to zoo porn.
Likely nobody cares about that anyway since too many people do that every day.

The only thing I use my VPN for is torrenting.

In the US at least it's illegal for an ISP to track your web activity without a court order, and at that point no VPN would protect you anyway. ISPs and law enforcement have better things to worry about than "nailing" every person who visits a particular site(s). They're only going to care and get a court order if you've come into their crosshairs for something and are building a case specifically against you.

The only real use for a VPNs on general web access is to bypass country blocks and to minimize your datamining profile fingerprint.

I think a VPN is a good idea regardless of what you're browsing now-a-days. Even if your traffic is not being actively monitored for any given reason, using your home IP address will leave a trail that could eventually be used against you for any type of content you browse regardless of if it is legal or not.

Here you are, on a website that advocates illegal activity, on a phone with no VPN. Nice going.

Seriously, though, you don't have a lot to worry about if you don't say certain things about your own situation, and don't post any media. But, get a VPN, FFS.

As long as you aren't downloading or posting any media thats illegal in your state or country you should be fine but definitely get a VPN just for peace of mind ?

what VPNs would be recommended. In the past I used a VPN and I got blocked from a website because the location I picked the VPN to use must have had a lot of people spamming the website. After that even when I wasn't connected to the VPN I still couldn't get access to the website.

Mullvad is a good choice. Accepts crypto payments, good network reliability, and many of their servers run entirely off volatile memory, so there is literally no server logs to speak of. I do not recommend using any US-based VPN since they have to comply with any subpoenas

Proton has a free VPN, but it just has U.S. Netherlands and Japan Servers unless you upgrade.

Just select a server which isn't in your own country. Usually the only benefit of paying for VPN is faster speeds on less congested servers.

Definitely go for a no logs policy one that can back it up with verification otherwise what's the point in the VPN
