Hello

Just watched a video a man having sex with a female dog in heat... but it seems she's bleeding a bit. I know it's kind of normal to drop some blood when the female dog's in heat.

But, is it okay to penetrate her when her vulva sheds a little blood?

From what I can recall from the lectures, heat blood in bitches is a very normal sight. The bigger the breed, the more blood they shed. The blood isn't actual tissue and uterine blood as seen in humans when menstruating but rather blood that leaks from the inflammated blood vessels on the walls of the vagina and uterus, which is the reason the vulva grows in size to begin with.

Unless she's spewing blood like a hose, drips of blood are totally normal

my girl bleeds a little even in the "give it to me" part of her heat cycle so i guess it's normal

It's quite normal for a dog to bleed in heat. I've never heard of any repercussions from having sex in heat, blood or not. However, I have heard it's somewhat dangerous to have sex with when they are coming out of heat. How long you should wait before resuming normal sexual activity seems to be debatable.

My girl recently went through her first heat and was quite bloody through the whole thing. Heavier during pro-estrus, but still prominent during estrus. It was her first one, however, so this may be normal. I would expect it to clear up more (but not necessarily completely) during estrus. I'll see what happens in her second heat. With the other canines I've been fortunate enough to be with, they were pretty clear during estrus; maybe a little pinkish at times.

its normal, and also mildly antiseptic which helps prevent infections when mating with a male dog (sheaath dirt) this is NOT an excuse not to wash your penis thoroughly before making love, but it is worth pointing out.
