Best horse breed?

I own 6 acres and a horse barn, I am looking for a couple of horses for pulling implements and trail riding, something not too small but not too big for the trails. I am interested in Halflingers, does anyone have experience with this breed? I am curious about their temperament, and whether there any other breeds to consider.

ponies might be more prone to foundering if they eat too much. and they can have attitude at times.
