Best dog to build up your strength and endurance while walking.

I am looking to eventually get another dog and better myself as well as the dog. My only requirements are that it’s under 40 or less pounds but being the height of a golden retriever or lab. I would like it to be young enough to have room to grow while being closer to adult age so it doesn’t grow excessively. I can get a puppy but it can’t be a Great Dane due to my current living arrangements. Also I have nothing against pit bulls or mixed variants my landlord is against it. Also sex isn’t a must just a bonus(for people who are wondering why I am posting here rather than the animal companion section). I would definitely prefer to get a rescue from the animal shelter than a breeder due to the sheer amount of dogs in the shelters and on the streets in my area. So to Sum up my requirements 40lbs or less, height around the size of a golden/chocolate lab, just under adult age, energetic, generally good with small dogs like chihuahua or jack russel, not a pit bull(mix).

Maybe a Husky, they are known for their endurance and because they are so energetic you pretty much have to walk them daily (so you can't slack off). Plus they are really good a pack bonding with other dogs. Just be careful if you let them off leash because their is noway you can catch them!

Sorry for the late reply but I would prefer to have a more laid back dog and huskies are generally very talkative and shed a ton of fur. I am currently limited on space as well. So something that would be good for a small apartment or room for rent situation would be better in terms of overall size.
