Yeah, it's just a thing about me that is just such a pain. Like see these guys with thier mare lovers and all i can think is "i wish i could be like you" but put around one and my childhood fear of them kicks in.

maybe some therapy? it's not like you need to tell the therapist you'd like to overcome this fear of horses to fuck one. i somewhat doubt anyone here can give any real professional advice.
 
totally understandable, given their sheer size its not like walking up to a dog. almost kinda-sorta in a way seems like a fear of not being in control of the situation, eh? crushed to death lol

That is fairly common for a lot of people that have not been able to spend much time around horses. Hell, when I first started working with horses I was afraid of stallions (because of all the bad things I heard about them from non zoos).
I got a job cleaning stalls to be around the mares and geldings first, got used to them, started hanging out with stallions, now I make my living working with stallions.

It is all am matter of getting around them and getting used to them.
That is part of why I offer for people to come to my place to help care for my horses. It gets me help that I cannot afford to pay a normal worker, and at the same time lets zoos that don't have experience around horses gain that experience.

Start at the basics and work up.

Thanks @Axis-deer great advice. Unfortunately I live in an inner urban area of a major Australian city, so there really aren't many horses around and we're 10 weeks into a covid lockdown, so it's going to stay a very hot fantasy for a while..

That's definitely an odd predicament to be in, I'm sorry to hear that.

Do you know if anything happened to you with horses when you were younger? Sometimes things like this can be explained with childhood trauma. If you don't, it could also be repressed.

I agree with nek- obviously you might wanna keep the sexual attraction to yourself, replace it with something more tame- but counseling can and does help with a wide variety of things, so it's worth a shot. Hypnotism also might be a fair shot.
 
There's excellent reason to be afraid of something that can kill you. While you definitely don't have to be afraid, you definitely need to have a healthy amount of respect for the animal and know what you're doing. It's not like a little dog that you can just drop off somewhere if it doesn't get along with your family. Consider your fear more like healthy respect for the power of the animal, and if you want to get past that, you should get an animal of your own to build a connection and understanding with. That is the easiest way to make a feeling of safety in the company of the animal.
