Any risk of ISP knowing?

Heyyy... I'm pretty skittish about all this zoophilia stuff, but I can't lie: some animals are just super arousing.

Anyway, I was wondering if there's any risk of my ISP finding out that I visit Zooville, and if so, what would they do about it? What if I use a VPN, or TOR? In that case, is it better to use a VPN, or TOR? Do they both provide enough anonymity on their own?

Thanks!

P.S. What about if I upload images here? Will my ISP be able to see that? Thanks!

If you use VPN or Tor then no they can't, all your ISP can see is you're connected to an IP address of a VPN or Tor service which are already popular with torrents and accessing services from other countries like streaming. And Tor and most VPNs use encryption between you and them, so the data your ISP handles like webpages, pictures and video is "scrambled" from view.

Which is best is down to your preference. Tor makes me nervous as it's always in the focus of those three letter agencies, and they've been known to set up their own nodes. And Tor has a bad habit of picking all three nodes in the same country, or nodes in my own country. With VPNs, make sure it has encryption and a "no logs" policy, although you have to trust them on that. I like to pick a VPN server manually in a country which has lax zoo laws and no law enforcement links to my own country. Also always use Private mode in the browser with VPN so you don't save temporary files or accidentally auto log-in to personal stuff, and obviously never use the same VPN for personal and zoo stuff.

If you don't use a VPN or TOR, your internet service provider can see that you visit Zooville.

What do they do about it?
Likely nothing, but it depends on where you are and what the laws are there. There are some countries in the world where I would surely refrain from doing that. But you can't really know what happens in countries where it is likely that the ISP doesn't do anything either. Better safe than sorry, right? Besides, mind that ISPs aren't the only ones who can monitor your browsing. Other parties may have more interest and less respect for things such as and individual's rights to privacy and free speech.

Can they see that you upload images? Not directly, but yes.
Zooville is accessed over an encrypted connection (mind the https in the address of the website), so while your ISP sees who you connect to, they can't read the content that is exchanged between the Zooville server and you. However, the amount of encrypted data that you exchange is correlated to the amount of unencrypted content. You send much more data when you upload an image than for a simple post. So they know that you have uploaded some kind of media. The data size may be enough to link you to something posted on Zooville publicly, but besides the size they also know the date and time when you uploaded stuff. So despite the encryption it's really not that difficult for an ISP to know exactly what you posted publicly on Zooville, if they would decide to look into this.

Best thing to do is to use a VPN, only don't forget to switch it on when you go online, i forget many times :p ( and i'm not blonde)

I use a VPN all the time when I'm here. Of course you have to not forget to put it on... ? But, i feel pretty safe while usine it!

Thank you for the explanation! Very helpful!

Follow-up question: say I want to share furry porn here in the furry/feral section of the forums, just to discuss with other zoos and whatnot. Do you think that would send up a red flag bright enough to attract the attention of an intrusive third party? I don't actually practice zoophilia, I just enjoy some of the porn. I certainly don't want to be put on a watch list, like "oh hey they're using TOR and uploading images, that's fishy."

ISPs don't have people watching what their customers are doing day in and day out. they're in the business of keeping customers, not losing them. the catch here is that if any legal entity comes along and legally requests what sites you've been visiting then your ISP would more than likely turn over your information. it's kinda like a grey area and if no one asks then your ISP more than likely won't care to tell.

more than likely you won't get in trouble but you CAN get in trouble depending on local laws. if you're paranoid then go buy a reputable VPN service with good speeds and just do your thing.

That is indeed the catch.

Any ISP is not going to deliberately lose business by getting a reputation for actively turning over people to the authorities for illegal activities - and there are many vastly more frequent illegalities such as breaking of copyright law - but if they are "forced to comply" by the authorities that is not "their problem" and, indeed, you'll rarely see the name of the ISP mentioned in such cases.

"What if I use a VPN, or TOR?"
Does that mean you are not?? You should have started here with one. (Maybe you are now. Your post is a month old, so...)

You can get one with a setting for the option of your VPN connecting when you turn on your computer. Set it and forget it.
Mine also has a kill switch that disconnects you from any websites if anything happens to the VPN for some strange reason.

do you recommend one or maybe just list some of the safer ones
Best case is use a VPN based in a country that isn't part of any of the 14 eyes countries. Avoid - Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, USA, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Sweden. And if possible, pay via anonymous method, IE: crypto.
