Too bad this didn't recieve more enlightened responses, I would've certainly responded to this earlier if I knew this was posted but I've been on hiatus until now! Before I answer this question, just wanted to let you know that there's a little spiritual zoo community on telegram if you're interested in being a part of that, it would be easier for you and your wife to communicate subjects like this without having to deal with all of the backlash from the spiritually blind.
Just to give you an idea of where I'm coming from: I've had many sessions with animal communicators with canine partners. I've also had some experiences along the lines of telepathic communication with dogs, as well as countless situations feeling their energies just like I feel energies from humans. Okay, now with that out of the way I will do my best to answer your question.
This really depends on the individual nonhuman partner, as some are more "talkative" about certain things than others generally speaking according to animal communicators, much like humans. But really all that matters anyway is that you communicate to them that you don't want them to tell the communicator anything about the relationship. In most cases they will already know this based off of what they observe from your own emotions and thought patterns surrounding the issue and different circumstances they've witnessed between you and other non zoo people. They are far more observant than we give them credit for.
You don't have to be an animal communicator to get the message to them, as long as the visuals that you have in your head are matching what you're saying. The confusion in communicating to other species tends to happen when humans have in their minds a visual of what they DON'T want their nonhuman companion to do while they tell them verbally what they DO want them to do. Or vice versa. That creates a very confusing situation for them, and a lot of frustration on both ends, often causing the nonhuman animal to shut out receiving further communication from the human because they know they can't trust them in that respect. So just be mindful of that.
They don't always completely understand the human world simply because of the lack of proper 2-way communication, but they typically understand us better than we understand ourselves, and through that they can grasp certain things as long as there's no misinterpretations and misconceptions on their end driving unwanted behavior.

I don't know if I'm on the right section but i have one question to ask, and I can't find some answers (ps: sorry for the grammar I'm not English native)
My wife and I own a horse, and a few days ago she spoke me about "animal communication" to sum up (even if I don't really believe it) it's a person who happens to have a form of communication/discussion/interaction with the animal and know how to say things according to what the animal tells it, there are things could be verified and other less but here it is, could it be really problematic for us if ever our relation were revealed? I admit to being in a certain fear.
