Am I furry if I only like the porn?

I wouldn't really say you would be considered a furry. I absolutely love the porn (probably could tell from my profile pic) but I wouldn't consider myself a furry. If you aren't dressing up in a suit and don't have a fursona, I think you can safely say you aren't a furry.

I mean by definition I suppose we are furries. We do have an appreciation for anthropomorphic animals, but I feel that being a true furry goes much deeper than just liking anthropomorphic animals
 
That's like saying if you never fucked an animal you are not zoo. You are absoltely a furry even if you dont have a fursona or dont plan on a fursuit, you dont need to have everything furry, just enough, and jerking off to furry porn makes you a furry :3
 
Furry is fairly broad definition. Basically as long as you are interested in anthropomorphic animals which may even be ferals with at minimum human like thinking you can call yourself a furry.

I used to consider myself a "furry" years ago. I drew art and even had a couple of OCs. But I've always found the concept for "fursuitting" to be utterly weird. But after all the bleeding hearts with a chip on their shoulders and an axe to grind joined the fandom, I pretty much dipped.
 
I don't consider myself a furry anymore (though I have a fursona, like yiff, and low-key want a suit). But no, you're far from the only one

Yep, involvement with the rest of the fandom isn't a requirement at all. I still make furry porn, so I suppose I am part of that fandom still, but like any sufficiently large population, there are a large number of vocal assholes that I'd rather just avoid.
 
I and someone else I know are the same. We like the art and the porn but don't consider ourselves furries. Years ago I was interested in the fandom but now I feel like I grew out of it and just like the art and porn.

The large number of obnoxious assholes is what turned me off and scared me away from the fandom lol
 
I'd say you're half furry. I personally don't really get the peeps who are into the suits and all, heard they're pretty expensive too
 
You can call yourself a furry if you want to. Furry fandom is very expansive. Fursuiting or creating a fursona are just some aspects of it.
 
If you ask me.... yes?. You can be a furry and not be involved in the community. It's toxic, full of dipshits and true bigotry ?. Make it clear to people what you enjoy and dont.

I let people know I'm a furry, I would never let someone know I was a zoo.
unless they asked me a lot more about being a furry and show the curiosity of the zoo side. All with caution of corse. That's kind of how my first relationship got involved in zoo with me, she just pushed the envelope until it happened.
 
its a truly hard question ! i think it depend. But a good indicator is : do you like furry only when you are arouse, or it is a thing you could like when you are not ?
If its /just/ porn fetish, i think you are not. But if, in a way, its something you truly like it could be more close to "be a furry" :)

Sorta agree with this. I'll add that the bestiality point is more focused/oriented on the animal-realistic-feralroleplaying point. I mean, even on e621 there's a tag that means "bestiality". So... since bestial is often mixed up with zoo you could tell that if you like zoo-oriented furry pictures you're more zoo than most furs around. Not in a complete way, but for sure some advanced way.
 
The fact that you are asking that question tells me you are a furry or seriously considering becoming a furry.
Looking a furry porn alone in my opinion doesn't make you a furry but could lead you to becoming one.
 
Question... do you have a fursona? Or do you have an idea of what your fursona might be/look like? If yes, then I'd say you are a furry. I started out just watching the porn, but after a while I developed my own sona, so now consider myself a furry, prior to developing a sona, I wouldn't consider myself a furry
 
I suppose is a really broad sense, maybe? Not real sure what qualifies or if there's even a hard definition. But I'm is the same boat here. Love furry/scalie porn both feral and anthro, but I don't have a fursona or have any desire to get a fursuit or something.

On a slightly related note, furry/scalie art was where I where I started to get attracted to male animals and furry/scalie stuff. I have absolutely no attraction to human men, but I like furry guys/futa and male animals IRL as much as I like the girls. Does that make me gay or bi or what? I got no idea how you classify that...

"Furry" describes an interest in anthropomorphic characters. It has nothing to do with having an OC, having a suit, all that other shit doesn't make someone more or less furry than someone who just likes the porn.

In my opinion, yes, you are a 'furry', but it's just a label like anything else and you can choose if you apply it to yourself or not. But in the broadest definition of Furry, yes, you are.

I don't think there are any particular rules about who is and isn't a furry, but the main thing is probably community engagement and self-ID. If all you do is like the porn, that doesn't really make you part of the community, you just like the porn. Lots of people like all kinds of porn, and it doesn't really say anything about them. Probably the majority of people who watch zoo porn aren't zoo, for example, but just want to watch a woman fuck a dog, etc.

Eh I'd say it's more of a label you put onto yourself. You could be into the art and absolutely love the concept of anthro animals without calling yourself a furry, whereas someone might be in the same situation as you and consider themselves a furry.
 
I would argue that does not make you a furry. Unless you think that makes you a furry. Furries typically feel animal like. They have things like a fursona. A lot of furries do like the idea of dressing up in fursuits. Have you seen any fursuit porn? How did you feel about it? If it turned you on, maybe you are more furry than you think. If it grossed you out, maybe not.

yup, this, at the end of the day it's just a label to help describe yourself to others. You wanna say you're a furry even though you don't really partake in the community? go ahead, countless other people do that. You wanna not consider yourself a furry since you don't partake in the community? that's fine as well, plenty of people also do that
