I always recommend to zoophiles who have don't have a pet but have a desire for animal contact and a relationship to go volunteer at their local animal shelter. You're certainly not going to find any sexual gratification there in the real world, but it's a valuable resource for building positive social relationships with animals who are stuck in a pretty shitty situation. You might even experience a flicker of a bond with one of them. Redirect the lust into productive energy to help others and work towards your goal of having an animal companion of your own.

Good advice mate. I volunteered at animal welfare league Stapylton for years so I understand completely what you're saying. Do get me wrong though, my question was nearly out of curiosity and not a means of getting suggestions. I agree though about what you say

In my opinion this point of view which overly restricts a dogs ability to choose is a bit unreasonable. My pitty is absolutely enthralled at the opportunity to find his way inside a new person, and there is no doubting the opportunity makes him very excited. Variety is the spice of life after all. Plus, it's so cute seeing him go to work lol he knows what he likes. Granted, that doesn't mean he gets paraded around or anything like that.
