Advice for first time with mare?

Most mares ive tried were all pretty responsive, i never felt i was in danger, but thats my personal exoerience. The first ome i tried it with was my personal riding horse so we had a close bond ?
 
So what I'm picking up from the 2 people who have given advice. I should be cautious and be slow and careful but not be scared. I appreciate the advice

A mare of a close friend. She has had this mare many years and has had her own fun with the mare and has never had a problem so she is inviting me to give it a try as well. The owner will be with me and the mare the whole time to make sure things are safe and that the mare is comfortable.

I can advise you not to immediately “jump” on the mare, but to spend time with her, scratch, stroke, groom her, and share your breath with her. In general, let her get used to you a little.
Regarding the intimate part, in addition to only following the instructions of the mare’s mistress like a robot (this is very important), also look at her behavior yourself. Does she have her ears popped, does she hold her tail up, is she tense.

Thank you. I've been around horses and riding before but I've never been intimate with one and so I kinda know how to act and how to try and earn her trust but it's still gonna be awkward as all hell

Just relax, you and she are both mammals - nature will do its job). And one more thing, you probably wanted to say “paradise”, the first time is always like this, but it will give a huge amount of emotions, don’t set yourself up for negativity.

Fair enough. I'm a skeptical person and a realist so not being negative is hard for me but I'll work on it.
