I actually just got a vacuum chamber to degas silicone for the pours I plan on doing, I've designed a couple dildos so far

FDM prints are groovy . .. in all the wrong ways.
Grooves hold fluids, and abrade tissues. I'd at least dip any toy prints in a clear, food-grade resin/epoxy.

Post print surface finishing goes a long way, and you don't print your toy, you're better off printing a mold, surface finishing it and pouring your actual toy in silicone. If you have to print your toy directly, just pull a condom over it if you don't want to do any polishing, as long as your part comes out smooth enough to NOT tear the condom. Once the toy is in use, if its really rough and breaks the rubber, you may find it wont come out without a lot of discomfort. Sort of like an alternative to a knot, only WAY less fun...

I've had remarkably good results with Anycubic Tough. It's got enough flex to not be brittle, but it's definitely strong enough for some hard penetration.

Most of those resins off-gas some nasty stuff post print until they're fully cured... and even then.. .. That's a nope for me.

Eh, idk. But the resin doesn't need the surface prep like the FDM prints do fir molds, so either way.

i have both sla and fdm printers
sla resin is toxic and should never be used in the body
if you make a mold with sla it's a silicone cure inhibitor you have to clean the so much and I had to use a thin clear coat to line the molds
sla stuff can be nasty stuff to work with gloves are a must and you need a well ventilated room and has be warm it's alot of work and steep learning curve but worth it
I use water wash sla liquid and purchased a large ultrasonic cleaner this eventually will save alot of post cleaning with alcohol

3d printing has got alot cheaper I would get a good one like a Bambu fdm to start as cheap printers have alot of maintenance pay a bit more and less troubles
fdm molds you can get good results if you are prepared to spend alot of time removing the lines and keeping the details
I found pla+ filiment is a good all rounder
sla can be a pain to get started and alot of aditional hardware needed and nasty stuff to work with but has best details but large printers for single mold printing can be costly but the speed of the print can be a fraction of fdm printers

when I get round to it going to print a scanner for my dlsr camera and scan some of my exotic erotics toys some things I want to try like add tubes, multi hardness silicone or mabye inflation to the lifecast toysI have lot of them too, and some of my own designs
