1000 follower limit

I do not know if it can be increased.
Why do you need to follow so many people?

No biggie. I just like to follow people. But I guess I will go through my follows and unfollow people who are not active in here anymore.

What does following do anyway? I don't get post notification or anything.

Ignoring is far more useful!
We should know our raw ignore count, and maybe a
goat prize like dumpster diver for people with the most.

Why not clear out the follows on accounts that have been inactive for 1+year - wouldn't that free up space? Can always rotate them back in if you see a post you like and continue the cycle - no sense in following dead accounts.

For the other 245k users?
But how many of them have been active in the last 6-12+ months?

How many of them are 100% lurkers that don't post or interact at all?

How many are banned?

Stuff like that. I'm sure that number would probably be cut in half if they purged any accounts that haven't been logged into in a year, is banned, etc.

Interesting point - would be a nice option in the settings to hide posts/profiles of users that've been banned/inactive for x months

Is there a way the mods could increase the follower limit? I already got 1000. I would like to follow more people.
From what I've quickly researched, I don't think there's a way to change the number of max people allowed to be ignored from 1000 to any higher number, without either 1) Buying a plugin, or 2) Installing a free plug-in that appears to now be completely unmaintained since 2020. So it would likely be a possible security vulnerability.

Unfortunately, we can only ignore 1000 people. Although I'm only at 500.

100% that there is no obstacle to this, the programmers of Xenforo simply drew a limit at 1000 and for years they have not been interested in rewriting this codeline, because they think that whoever ignores 1000 people does not use the forum.
They are right after all.

And following 1000 people is simply a brain problem. People click on it button because they think they're getting porn.

I have 90 followers, and I don't really know why. I've never made any zoo content, and spend most of my time on here stirring up burning trash in the dumpster.

There are 60 here. Of these, a maximum of 5 are the ones I talk to, the rest follow me because they think they are getting dog pussy pic and stories because of my female dog comments.

No. They get rope from me.

Ignore count is not visible to mods.
are you sure the admin can't just do a

"users can have up to X -insert number to function-" thing? or does it operate off a website limitation like a admin cannot exceed a certain number displayed? (like how final fantasy hard cap stats at 255.)

fair enough... a website limitation and getting whatever new plug in will cause more bugs/security issues.
