Zoo Philosophy Zoophilia Is Morally Permissible - Fira Bensto - 2023

About the article

Bensto (pseudonym), F. Zoophilia Is Morally Permissible. Controversial_Ideas 2023, 3, 6.

As one of our most deeply entrenched social taboos, zoophilia is widely considered to be wrong, and having sex with animals is illegal in many countries. In this article, I would like to go against this de facto consensus and argue that zoophilia is morally permissible. This would have major implications for how we legally and socially deal with zoophilia.

Another thought-provoking article is "Zoophilia Is Morally Permissible" by Fira Bensto (pseudonym), which is just out in the current issue of @JConIdeas.

This piece challenges one of society's strongest taboos and argues for the moral permissibility of some forms of sexual contact between humans and animals. This article offers a controversial perspective that calls for a serious and open discussion on animal ethics and sex ethics.

It's a good study. The existence and meaning of ethical Zoophilia still needs to get into the minds of a big chunk of society. A great many still have no clue that ethical is an possibility and exists. They still have the impression that nearly every zoo fucks anything with a pulse, regardless of consent, when he's horny. They don't know the difference of a Zoophile, a Beastialist, a Zoosadist and a Necrozoo and more or less mingle all of 'em into one group in their head.

Otherwise sentiments of people like @stinkyskunk wouldn't be bleated out so often without thinking first (or reading a study, which is given a rating for, in his case).
Deeply insightful, this has certainly alleviated my concerns over the ethical concern of non-human animals consenting to sex with us. Just wish there was further elaboration on the power dynamic imbalance argument debunking.
interesting article
Extremely well-written and thought-provoking. The section about consent was the most interesting to me, especially the second point: "...either the required capacity does not threaten the validity of animals’ consent to sex or valid consent is unnecessary when interacting with animals..."
I had a talk with a no zoo, sometime ago. This reminds me a little bit about it. He said:" As long the Animal is not hurt and or forced, I can't say that it's sick and should be banded. A specially that, I'm eating meet and other animal products."

Bad zoos should be punished, but it's not all zoos abuse and hurt animals, to say it should stay banned, then animal ownership has to be banned, to stop animal getting hurt. Non zoos are bad for animals too!
Zoosexuality is becoming more and more normalized.
Logical use of moral principle and relativism to show the absurdity of making ethical zoophilia illegal. Good paper.
The human species cannot be trusted to speak on behalf of those who cannot.

Zoophilia needs to remain illegal. And I say this as someone who is very sexually attracted to horses. It's better this way. Animals don't deserve to be raped, and most "zoos" have an interest in doing just that.
